IMPHAL, August 2:The government has decided to relax the
qualifications for the Teachers Eligibility Test by providing five
percent marks relaxation for the OBC, ST, SC and physically challenged
categories.
According to a press note from the department of education (s), as per
the provisions of the Right to education Act, 2009, every teacher who
is to be recruited as primary and upper primary teachers has to pass
teacher eligibility test and should be trained, however as there is
shortage of trained candidates in the state, the government of India
has granted one time relaxation to the training qualification.
It has further stated that, candidates from the categories of OBC, ST,
SC and physically challenged with 45 percent marks can also apply.
It has also stated that the pass marks for the general category is 60
percent while for OBC is 55 percent and for SC/ST/PH will be 50
percent. The Board of Secondary Education will issue the pass
certificate which will be valid for a period of seven years and that
candidates who wish to appear for the primary and upper primary
teacher recruitment under the state government including SSA should
pass the TET, the statement added.
