PATNA: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday directed the officials
to organize fairs for distribution of transistors among Mahadalits.
Addressing a function to commemorate the 120th birth anniversary of
Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar and Mahadalit Vikas Mitra Jagrukta
Sammelan at S K Memorial Hall, Nitish said that officials of SC/ST
Welfare department and Mahadalit Vikas Mission felt that the
Mahadalits might misuse the money given to them for purchasing
transistors.
He directed the officials to organize fairs at different places and
invite transistor manufacturing companies to display their products.
People belonging to Mahadalit communities would be handed over a
receipt so that they could get transistors of their choice, the CM
said.
He also urged the SC/ST communities to give up various addictions and
take pledge for their development. The state government would help
them in getting rid of their addictions, he said.
