BANGALORE: Shedding caste barriers in totality instead of merely
preaching about it, will be the real tribute to late Babasaheb
Ambedkar, BJP's Karnataka unit President K S Eshwarappa said today.

"Instead of mere preaching about oneness and equality, the actual
practice of shedding the caste barriers will be a real tribute to
Ambedkar", he said addressing a function commemorating the death
anniversary of Ambedkar.

Eshwarappa said it was "unfortuntate that a mass leader and father of
the Indian constitution" like Ambedkar had come to be known as a
"leader of the dalits".

Ambedkar's vision was not confined to the uplift of the dalits but all
those who are "weak and the downtrodden".

Later responding to a query on BJP President Nitin Gadkari's visit to
the city tomorrow, he said Gadkari, besides having a series of
interactions with party leaders and ministers, would be holding a
meeting with the state unit office bearers.

The talks would also focus on the preparations for the upcoming zilla
and taluk panchayat polls.
