UP: Ulema Council Activists-Dalits Clash, 7 Injured

Seven persons, including three women, were injured when activists of
Ulema Council and Dalits clashed in Rani ka Sarai area, police said
today.

The incident occurred last night when Ulama Council activists, who
were returning from Delhi after demanding a high-level inquiry into
the Batla house encounter case, had a dispute with some Dalits in
Mahmoodpur village, they said.

The two groups hurled bricks during the clash.

Both the groups have filed counter FIRs in this regard, while a case
has also been registered against Ulama activists for blocking
Azamgarh-Lucknow road.
