TJAC discriminating against Dalits: Krishna Madiga
Hyderabad, July 22: The MRPS president, Mr Manda Krishna Madiga, on
Friday alleged that the Telangana Political JAC was showing
discrimination against the Telangana activists belonging to Dalit
community as it gave bandh call on suicides of three upper caste
activists and did not observe bandh on suicide of a single Dalit
Telangana activist.
Speaking at a media conference here, Mr Krishna Madiga said
discrimination was being meted out to the Dalits in the ongoing
Telangana agitation. Majority of 610 persons, who had committed
suicides for cause of Telangana were Dalits, he said and charged the
TRS and TJAC with paying no attention to suicides by Dalit youths for
the cause of Telangana but projecting upper caste martyrs as heroes.
Pointing out that bandh calls were given following suicides of
Venugopal Reddy, Ishanth Reddy and Yadi Reddy, he said no bandh call
was given when Dalits committed suicides for the same purpose.
Alleging that upper caste persons were using "Telangana sentiment' as
a shield and attacking Dalits, he condemned the attack on Dalit
employee of AP Bhavan by the TRS leader, Mr Harish Rao.
Holding the AP Bhavan Resident Commissioner responsible for the
unpleasant episode, the MRPS leader demanded stern action against the
Commissioner. He criticized the Resident Commissioner for writing to
Delhi police not to bring body of Yadi Reddy to AP Bhavan. He felt
that instead of deciding to keep the body at AP Bhavan, the TRS
leaders should have taken the body and staged a dharna in front of the
residences of AICC president, Ms Sonia Gandhi, and the Prime Minister,
Dr Manmohan Singh, he added.
Mr Krishna Madiga also alleged that the TRS Chief, Mr K Chandrasekhara
Rao, maintains close political connections with Ms Sonia Gandhi rather
than with State Congress leaders. Alleging that Mr KCR's son, Mr K
Taraka Rama Rao has business relations with Seemandhra leaders, he
said they were not interested to create trouble for Ms Sonia Gandhi
and Dr Manmohan Singh.
The MRPS leader said they would stage dharnas and rasta rokos on July
23 and 24 throughout the State in protest against the attacks on
Dalits by upper caste persons.
