A dip in SC, ST applicants at DU, 17,000 candidates register

New Delhi : Delhi University closed registrations for admission under
various quota, including scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, physically
handicapped, Kashmiri migrant and children of war widows on Wednesday.

The registration counters for SC, ST and physically handicapped
students, at Arts Faculty building and office of Dean of Students'
Welfare, remained open well past the official closing time.

About 17,000 candidates registered in the SC/ST category this year,
compared to nearly 18,000 last year. Around 450 students had
registered in the physically handicapped category by Wednesday

All SC, ST and physically handicapped students, who were unable to
submit the original marksheet, have been granted provisional
registration and can submit their original documents before 1 pm on
the June 11 to gain admission through the first list, which comes out
on June 15.

Those who miss the first deadline can submit the documents by June 24,
for admission in the second list.

Medical examinations for physically handicapped candidates will go on
till June 14, said Komal Kamra, who has been appointed as counselor
for physically handicapped candidates. Physically handicapped students
can continue to approach the office of the Dean of Students' Welfare.

Delhi University Open Days also ended on Wednesday. Nearly 20,000
students were benefited by the 12 Open Days, held at the North Campus,
the University said.

Candidates can now clear their doubts either through a web chat, to be
held on June 10 or by approaching the help desk at the office of Dean
of Students' Welfare.
