TNN, Feb 3, 2011, 06.56am IST
LUCKNOW: After Dalit girl's rape and murder at Chinhat, recovery of a
woman's body in mysterious circumstances from Banthra police station
area has sent alarm bell ringing. The woman was identified as
35-year-old Guddi, wife of Shivpal, a resident of Sohramau police
station area in Unnao district.
Though no external injury could be spotted on Guddi's body, police
believe that the woman could have been murdered elsewhere, while her
body spotted in the fields of Paharpur village.
Guddi was at her father's place in Darogakheda under Sarojininagar
police station area. On Sunday, she along with her sister Munni went
for shopping at Banthra. Guddi then told Munni to go back home, while
she took another tempo to go to her in-law's place in Unnao's Sohramau
area.
However, when she did not reach home till Sunday evening, Shivpal told
his in-laws. A frantic search was launched by the family members to
trace the whereabouts of Guddi.
When the family members and police were searching for Guddi, an
information that the body of an unidentified woman had been found in
Paharpur village was received by the police. After reading the
newspapers reports, family members reached the village and confirmed
that the body was that of Guddi.
The police also started the investigation into the matter. Banthra
police said that prima-facie though no external injuries could be
spotted, still it looked to be a case of murder.
Police also did not rule out the possibility of rape and have sent the
body for the post-mortem examination.
"Since, we were unable to ascertain the exact cause of Guddi's death
and whether she had been raped or not, it was decided to ensure that
post-mortem examination is done by two-member panel," station officer
Banthra Jai Shanker Singh said.
