HYDERABAD: A few MRPS activists managed to sneak into the Secretariat
premises on Wednesday giving the jitters to the police and the
security personnel there.
However, their plans to stage a protest at the Chief Minister's Office
in C block were foiled and they were forced to walk out quietly only
to get arrested at the entrance gate of the Secretariat.
One after the other, nearly 30 MRPS activists are learnt to have
entered the Secretariat premises since morning.
They took advantage of the functions being organised on the occasion
of several ministers assuming charge in their chambers to sneak into
the premises without being noticed by the security personnel at the
entrance.
Around 2 pm, they 'leaked' the information to the media and revealed
their plans to stage a protest in front of the C block or climb up one
of the buildings.
Within minutes, the security officers came to know about the plans of
the MRPS and a large number of police personnel were deployed to
thwart any such attempt.
Security was tightened at the entrance gate. Policemen were also
deployed on top of all the buildings.
Teams led by Central Zone DCP Akun Sabharwal and Task Force DCP VB
Kamalasan Reddy searched all the buildings on the Secretariat premises
rushing from one block to the other to nab the agitators.
Surprised at the swift reaction from the police, the MRPS activists
could not go forward on their plans.
Later, they quietly walked out of the premises but gathered soon at
the entrance gate to stage a sit-in.
The police personnel, who were already prepared, arrested the
activists and shifted them to the Nampally police station.
