Dr. Kancha Ilaiah is a professor and former Head of the Department of
Political Science at Osmania University. A Dalit-Bahujan activist, he
is a prolific writer, having published in both Telugu and English. He
is the author of 'Why I am Not a Hindu: A Critique of Sudra
Philosophy, Culture and Political Economy', 'God As Political
Philosopher: Buddha's Challenge to Brahminism'.April 14 is the birth
anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian
Constitution. A champion of Dalit and Bahujan rights in the country,
Ambdekar devoted his life to fighting for the cause of the
underprivileged. In modern-day India, what is the relevance of
Ambedkar?
