G'barga warden attempts to rape, burn Dalit girl

GULBARGA: A case of attempt to rape and murder has been registered
against a hostel warden in Chincholi police station of Gulbarga
district.
According to police sources, Sanganabasava Biradar, the warden of a
girls' hostel run by Backward Class and Minority Welfare Department at
Chandapur of Chincholi taluk, attempted to rape Mallamma, daughter of
Nagappa Bulla, on December 24. When she resisted, the warden abused
her and tried to burn her to death.
Mallamma, with more than 60 percent bun injuries, was admitted to
Gulbarga District Government Hospital on December 24. She succumbed to
injuries on Tuesday.
Mapanna Bulla, who is the father of the deceased, registered a
complaint against the warden at Chincholi Police station on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the activists of Dalit Sene, under the leadership of
district-unit President Nagendra Jawali, staged a dharana in front of
the office of Gulbarga Deputy Commissioner on Thursday, demanding
action against the hostel warden.
