Morena (MP), Oct 19 (PTI) A dalit was killed and his body was thrown
at the railway tracks after he resisted some unidentified youth who
were teasing his daughter here, police said today.Munna Jatav (48)
resisted the youth teasing his daughter at Singhal locality yesterday
and thereafter tried to lodge a complaint with the police.Angry at
this, the youth attacked Munna with swords, killed him and threw his
body at nearby railway tracks, police sources said.The police have
sent Munna's body for autopsy and a case has been registered.Further
probe is on, police added.

Minor girl raped

Azamgarh, Oct 20 (PTI) A 17-year-old dalit girl was allegedly raped by
four persons in Kurhans village here, police said today.

The girl went missing on October 18 when she had gone to watch
Ramlila, they said, adding, she returned home yesterday and told her
family that she had been raped by four men.

An FIR has been registered in this connection and a manhunt launched
to nab the culprits, police said.

Probe panel visits Mirchpur village

Hisar, Oct 19 (PTI) The one-man inquiry commission, probing the
Mirchpur caste violence in which an aged Dalit and his disabled
daughter were burnt alive and several houses were torched, today
visited the village in Haryana''s Hisar district and met its
residents.
Justice Iqbal Singh, a retired judge of the Punjab and Haryana High
Court, met the villagers to gather information about the violence
which erupted in April this year.
He also listened to grievances of the people from both sides.
Justice Singh saw houses of the Dalits which were set ablaze allegedly
by the upper castes. Some villagers handed over an affidavit to the
commission.
The commission, set up the Haryana government on June 18 this year to
probe the Mirchpur incident, will submit its report within three
months.
It will probe the circumstances leading to the death of Tara Chand, an
aged Dalit, and his disabled daughter Suman, both residents of village
Mirchpur, on April 21.
Several persons were also injured in subsequent rioting and arson in
the village.
Registrar cum Secretary to the Commission, S P Arora, and district
officials accompanied the commission which spent some two-hour in the
village.

Dalit youth executed 'Taliban-style' in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Six months after the mysterious death of a Dalit
youth in Kannur district of Kerala, police have confirmed that he was
in fact brutally tortured for hours.

The death evoked widespread criticism with some terming it
"Taliban-style execution by Islamic fundamentalists" and seeking a NIA
probe. Eight of the 13 accused have been arrested and charged with
"attempt to commit culpable homicide and abetment of suicide".
Investigating officer P Sadanandan said, "The accused are Popular
Front of India activists, a Muslim radicals group."

But PFI's Kerala president Naseeruddin Elamaram said he was not aware
of the case. He said it had become a practice to associate any Muslim,
who was arrested, with the outfit and added it was part of a
conspiracy.

The body of Vineesh, a casual labourer, was found hanging from the
terrace of a lodge in Poythumkadavu in Kannur on April 17 this year.
There were 22 brutal injury marks on the body.

The veins had been punctured both in his hands and legs and a lot of
blood had oozed out revealing, what Dalit activists claim, was
chillingly high level of planning and precision by the assailants.
