Undergraduate Scholarship for SC/ST Students in Engineering to study
at Institute of Technology recognised by the Government of India -2011

Science/Electronics Engineering)
Course Level:Undergraduate
Scholarship Provider: SAIL
Scholarship can be taken at: India

Eligibility:
-The SC/ST students who have joined any Institute of Technology
recognised by the Government of India for pursuing a full time
Engineering Courses in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Metallurgical,
Mining, Ceramics, Chemical, Computer Science/Electronics Engineering
disciplines with effect from the academic session 2011-2012 are only
eligible to apply for scholarship
-Annual income from all sources of the Parent/Guardian of the students
should not exceed Rs.15,000/- per annum.

Scholarship Open for International Students: No

Scholarship Description: SAIL is the largest public sector enterprise
managing integrated Steel Plants at Bhilai, Durgapur, Rourkela,
Bokaro, Bumpur, two Alloy Steels Plant at Durgapur and Salern,
ferro-alloys steel producing units at Bhadravati [VISP] and Chandrapur
Ferro Alloy plant, Central Marketing Organization with a wide network
of marketing outlets and a Research & Development Centre for Iron &
Steel at Ranchi.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has decided to allot houses under
Rajiv Ratan Awas Yojna to SC and ST slum dwellers, at nominal prices.

The government on Monday decided to waive its share of Rs 60,000 for
each dwelling unit in the housing scheme if an SC or ST family gets a
flat built under Rajiv Ratan Awas Yojna . "The Delhi SC and ST
Commission will pay the amount on behalf of the families from these
two categories. The Central government and the land owning agency will
also make their contribution," said chief minister Sheila Dikshit,
adding the SC and ST families will get the flats almost for free.

Dikshit said the government will start the allotment process of nearly
5,000 low-cost flats by next month. Allotment of around 7,000 flats
will begin in December. The government had earlier decided to begin
the process of relocation of 33 slums by allocating low-cost houses to
eligible families as construction of 9,660 flats has been completed
and another 5,168 are being constructed. Officials said the
approximate cost of each flat would be Rs 3.34 lakh out of which the
Centre's contribution would be is Rs 1.19 lakh and the contribution of
the land owning agency would be Rs 93,000.

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said all steps
were being taken to ensure that people belonging to scheduled caste
and tribe were not subjected to any atrocity.

"We are firm in our resolve to rein in atrocities on SC/ST people. We
have taken all steps to ensure that they do not face any atrocity,"
Kumar told a meeting held to review state-wide vigil and monitoring of
cases under Prevention of SC/ST Atrocity Act here.

"If a matter is reported, police should take immediate and effective
steps so that a speedy trial is possible for the conviction of the
perpetrators," he said.

He asked the officials of Revenue and Land Reform department to
effectively review distribution of government land to the SC/ST
beneficiaries and ensure that no no injustice was done.

Stating that there was proposal to set up one SC/ST police station in
every district by the end of current fiscal, he said now ten such
police stations were in operation.

MADURAI: Velammal Institutions Chairman MV Muthuramalingam has
returned the custody of the land usurped� from a Dalit woman here.�
According to police, a case was slapped against Muthuramalingam and
his accomplices, personal assistant Thirupathi Venkatesan and
contractor Vijay Anand for usurping the land worth Rs 1.5 crore from
one Samayal of Anupanadi. The land sprawling across 1.43 acres was in
proximus to Velammal Village near Anupanadi. The accused in the case
had bought over 60 acres engulfing the land belonging to the Dalit
woman and had been exerting pressure on her to sell off it for a
paltry sum.

Dalit woman shot dead when she resisted molestation bid

MAINPURI (UP): A Dalit woman was on Saturday shot dead by three
persons in Ghiror area when she resisted an alleged molestation
attempt by them, police sources said here.

Sunita Balmiki (37) was shot dead this afternoon by Dalbir Singh
Chauhan his brothers Omvir Singh and Harbir Singh at Raimza village
when she was working in the field, they said.

Sunita's husband Chotey Lal in his FIR alleged Dalbir and his brothers
attempted to molest her but shot her dead when Sunita resisted and
raised an alarm, police said.
