Mayawati government on Thursday ordered a CB-CID inquiry into Bhatta
Parsaul incidents including of firing and rape during the farmers's
agitation on land acquisition issue in Greater Noida. The government
has ordered an inquiry into all incidents related to Bhatta Parsaul
village in
Gautam Buddha Nagar, secretary home Deepak Kumar told reporters.

He said that these incidents include those of firing and allegations of rape.

The move came after the National Commission for Schedule Castes had
sought registration of FIRs in alleged rape of women during an
agitation against land acquisition.

Commission chairman P L Punia had said that on the basis of affidavits
given by the seven alleged rape victims of Bhatta Parsaul,
Commission's member Latha Priyakumar has written to Noida SSP for
registration of rape cases against the accused cops.

Following clashes between protesters and police in the village and
neighbouring areas in May, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi had
visited the affected farmers and alleged that burnt bodies were found
and women were raped, which raised a political storm with UP
government denying the charges.

Punia had said the seven victims of the village had personally
appeared before the Commission member Latha Priyakumar and testified
that they were raped by the Noida policemen.

Lucknow: UP Chief Minister Mayawati on Friday dared Team Anna to fight
the next general elections if it wants the Jan Lokpal Bill to be
passed in Parliament.

The BSP supremo asserted that BSP will not support Lokpal Bill in
Parliament till SC/ST and backward classes are represented in the
drafting panel.

Days after she extended support to Anna Hazare's campaign, the UP
Chief Minister did a U-turn saying Team Anna should contest the Lok
Sabha polls in 2014 to get their Jan Lokpal Bill passed instead of
agitating at Ramlila ground.

She also asked the UPA and NDA to stop playing politics over the issue
and ensure that Anna Hazare ends his fast.

"BSP will not support Lokpal Bill till proper representation of SC/ST
and backward classes in the drafting committee of the bill is ensured
as per the Constitution," Mayawati told reporters here.

Advocating that only officials occupying top positions should be
brought in the ambit of the bill, she said the draft should be worked
out with consensus and passed by Parliament.

The Chief Minister said the bill should fulfil its aim of curbing
corruption and its provisions should be clear for everyone to
understand them.

Over the issue of inclusion of Prime Minister and judiciary in the
ambit of the bill, Mayawati said that the party would support the
decision of the majority in Parliament.

A day after Hazare launched his indefinite fast on August 16, Mayawati
had in a statement said, "BSP and its government in UP is against
corruption and criminalisation of the politics since beginning and the
party supports Anna Hazare in his campaign."

Mayawati cautioned the Centre against "non-state" elements that could
violate law in the guise of the agitation and warned of strict action
against those who indulge in such antics.

"The state government will take strict action against those involved
in any kind of violence during the ongoing agitation in support of Jan
Lokpal Bill," Mayawati said.

Stating that she had received information about communal forces trying
to amend Constitution to deprive the SC/ST of their rights, Mayawati
asked the Centre to ensure that its intelligence agencies keep an eye
on such elements.

Madurai,Aug 30 (PTI):Madras High Court bench today directed Tiruchi
Government Medical College Dean to form a team to examine a Dalit
Engineering College student who was allegedly sexually assaulted by an
Inspector of Police. Admitting a Public Interest Litigation by
advocate R A Alex, who is fighting for Dalit rights, Justices P
Jyothimani and M M Sundresh also ordered that the report be submitted
to the court in a sealed cover on or before September 12. The
Petitioner submitted that the girl was kidnapped by the Inspector
while waiting to board a bus at Tiruchi with her male friend on June
24 2011. He had ordered the boy to leave, saying he had to ask her
certain questions and was taking her to Pudukottai, where he
reportedly sexually assaulted her.The boy informed police,following
which a team accompanied him to that town and brought her back to
Tiruchirapalli. The petitioner alleged the girl was forced by women
police to give a complaint stating she was kidnapped by a gang and not
by the inspector, but was forced to file a complaint against the
official after the matter became public. The Inspector was arrested
and remanded On July 4 2011. His bail pleas have been dismissed. The
petitioner demanded a CBI investigation, alleging that police had
committed serious omissions and commissions in investigation. He also
demanded adequate compensation for the girl and her male friend for
violations against them.

NAMAKKAL: Tension gripped the Collectorate premises here on Monday as
scores of people staged a black flag demonstration seeking action
against the� caste Hindus who buried a body near a Dalit's house
recently.� At least 33 people, including six women, were arrested for
staging the protest.

Led by P Senthamizhan, district secretary of Arunthamizhar Peravai,
members of various Dalit organisations and villagers raised slogans
seeking action on the issue.

Soon a police team, led by Namakkal Deputy Superintendent of Police
Subramani and Inspector Lakshmanakumar, arrested the demonstrators and
seized the black flags from them. They were detained at a marriage
hall in Nallipalayam and released in the evening, a police officer
told Express.

"Caste Hindus recently buried a body very close to the house of
Devasagayam, a Dalit living in Vadagarayathur village near
Jedarpalayam.� It was a deliberate attempt to chase away the Dalit
from the land. In fact, Devasagayam had submitted a petition to the
revenue officials to take steps to retrieve his panchami land, which
was forcibly encroached upon by a caste Hindu family years ago," said
Senthamizhan.

He said the stir was held to draw the attention of the senior
officials.� Till date, the police and revenue officials have not taken
any action against those who buried the body near the house, he
added.�� When asked, Superintendent of Police Pravesh Kumar said the
police and revenue department officials were holding an inquiry and
that action would be taken in accordance with the inquiry findings.

He noted that the members of the Dalit family did not turn up at a
peace committee meeting held a few days ago.

Over 300 Dalit atrocities reported in Himachal

Shimla : More than 300 cases of atrocities against Dalits were
reported in Himachal Pradesh in the past three years, Chief Minister
Prem Kumar Dhumal Monday told the state assembly.

"As many as 308 Dalit atrocity cases were reported from 2008 to 2011,"
Dhumal said in a written reply.

He said three people have been convicted and 18 exonerated of charges.
"As many as 147 cases have been pending in various courts," he added.
