Woman imparts skills to Dalit women

BHAKTAPUR: Devi Khadka hailing from Barahisthan of Bhaktapur has been
imparting a 10-day bag manufacturing training to Dalit women, with a
view to provide them income generating works through skills
In the name of her husband, late Ram Kumar Khadka, she imparted bag
manufacturing training to 15 Dalit women residing in Chittapole,
Sudal, Dadikot and Changu VDC of the district so as to develop their
technical skills for self-employment.
Harsha Devi BK of Chittapole said she is thinking to transform the bag
making skills to a profession, for she is devoid of other skills and
education for income generation.
Likewise, Laxmi Nepali of Changu said they would work together in bag
manufacturing enterprises to utilize the skills for life sustenance.
'I have been making an income worth Rs. 250 a day by sewing bags in
village', she informed.
The training has opened up many avenues for Dalit women to generate
income in their own area.
