Lokpal Bill likely to have reservations for SC/ST

New Delhi, Dec 16: The Lokpal Bill will likely have reservations for
the SC/ST, said sources.

The demands were put by Ram Vilas Paswan and Lalu Yadav during the
Lokpal meet. The government's move will placate SP, BSP, LPJ and RJD.

The government had said that the Lokpal Bill will be brought next week
and the session would be extended by a day, if required. The winter
session of the Parliament will be over on Dec 22.

Similar demands have been made by All India Confederation of SC/ST
Organisations earlier that the Lokpal Bill include anti-graft law for
backward communities as well.

"Of course there is rampant corruption and price rise. But the fight
against it should not undermine the Constitution drafted by B R
Ambedkar," Udit Raj, All India Confederation of SC/ST Organisations,
had told earlier.

"There are difference of opinions between what their (Anna Hazare) and
our Bill seeks. We are afraid that in future, people like Anna Hazare
can ask the government to do away with reservation under the threat to
commit suicide or fast-unto-death. This is unacceptable," he had said
on why he differed with Anna Hazare's move.

Meanwhile, the cabinet will take up the Lokpal issue on Dec 19. The
government also asked Anna Hazare to have patience on the Lokpal
