Karur, Tamil Nadu, Nov 7 : Hundreds of devotees across Tamil Nadu paid
homage to a 127-year-old devout Dalit Vaishnavite, Ramanujar, at his
residence in Somur Village where he died yesterday.

Rasu alias Rajalingam took 'Samashanam' (religious vows) at Srirangam
when he was young from Periyanambi and changed his name to Ramanujar.
He hailed from a Dalit Community and due to his devotion to the
almighty,he remained single. Ramanujar also coverted his small house
into a temple for Lord Vishnu and undertook pilgrimage to various
Vaishnavite Temples across the country on foot.

He constantly chanted the holy names of the almighty, neighbours
recalled. His mortal remains were buried at his residence in which a
