Dalit couple commits suicide
Moga, Aug 8: A Dalit boy and girl, who were having a love affair,
committed suicide by hanging themselves at Thathi Bhai village under
Baghapurana subdivision in the distrct last night.
The boy was identified as Jaswant Singh (19), a labourer, and the girl
as Sunita Rani (18), a plus-I student.
Police said the girl's parents were against the affair. About a month
ago, Sunita's parents engaged her with a boy of Baghapurana, which the
girl opposed.
Last night, Jaswant contacted Sunita over telephone and asked her to
come to his farmhouse where the duo commited suicide.
Police registered a case under 174 CrPC and handed the bodies to their
respective parents after postmortem.
