SC/ST Commission sends team to probe into sisters death

National Commission for Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribes has taken
serious note of the alleged brutal killing of two sisters in Moradabad
last week and was sending a team to investigate the incident.
SC/ST Commission Chairman and Congress MP P L Punia today said from
New Delhi that it was unfortunate that Dalits still have to suffer
these kinds of brutal atrocities.
He said the Commission has taken a serious view and congisance of the
incident and has rushed a team of its senior people for spot inquiry
and further action.
On Saturday, two sisters belonging to the Dalit community were
allegedly burnt alive in Kothiwal Nagar in Moradabad by a mob
protesting against double murder for which their brother was accused.
Police had already registered FIR against 12 people on the statement
by the mother of the deceased girls yesterday.
According to the victims' mother Rajo, a mob gathered outside their
house and set it ablaze. While she escaped unhurt, her daughters Gita
(22) and Monu (20) were burnt alive in the fire.

While Rakesh is absconding, his brother Rajesh was arrested by police.
Earlier police had denied the involvement of a mob in the incident and
had said prima facie, it was a case of accident or suicide by the
