Lucknow, May 31 (PTI) Alleging anomalies in the declaration of assets
by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, the Samajwadi Party today
asked the Election Commission to put on hold her nomination papers for
the State Legislative Council polls till she provided necessary
"The declaration made by her along with her nomination papers have no
mention of the source which helped her gain an unprecedented increase
in her assets without any business. The value of the movable and
immovable property mentioned by her is grossly undervalued and should
also be probed," SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said.
He said the Election Commission should put her nomination on hold till
the chief minister provides these additional inputs about her assets
to safeguard and uphold the sanctity of the election process.
Chaudhary alleged that besides what has been declared, the chief
minister had several 'benami' properties.
