Special rights for Dalits in new constitution urged

KATHMANDU: Speakers at a programme organised today in the capital
underlined the need to incorporate rights of the Dalits in the new
constitution and appealed to all to express solidarity in their fight
against caste-based discrimination and 'untouchability'

controversial clauses in the bills tabled in the House.
Nilambar Acharya, Constitutional Committee Chairman argued that since
the historical CA had space for all the marginalised communities and
Dalits, it would address all the issues in the new constitution.
"I disagree with the frequent allegations that CA has sidelined the
woes of Dalits," he added.
