Dalit Women Society demands Shankar's ouster
Hyderabad, Nov 4: The All India Dalit Women's Rights Protection
Society has demanded that the State government immediately arrest the
minister Dr P. Shankar Rao, who was brain behind the assault on
Industries department Joint Director A.V. Patel on October 21.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, the society secretary P.
Suhar Latha demanded that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy
immediately dismiss Dr Shankar Rao from the Cabinet and order a CBI
inquiry into his assets. She alleged that Dr Shankar Rao had
pressurized the Principal Secretary of Industries T.S. Appa Rao to
illegally transfer Joint Director A.V. Patel. She also demanded that
the government order an inquiry against an anti-Dalit officer,
Principal Secretary T.S. Appa Rao's assets, irregularities in subsidy
funds in Industries department and promotions. She said that the
Vigilance department had submitted a report to the government that
irregularities had taken place in the department.
She also criticized the Chief Minister for failing to take action
against Dr Shankar Rao even after submitting memoranda on the
official's illegal activities. She said that along with Dr Shankar
Rao's victims, they would organize a dharna at Jantar Mantar, New
Delhi shortly demanding that the Chief Minister sack Dr Shankar Rao.
The society president Ratna was also present.
