Biharsharief, Sep 6 (PTI) RJD chief Lalu Prasad today met a dalit
woman undergoing treatment in a hospital here after beaten up
allegedly by some upper caste people and said his party would bear the
expenses of her treatment. Demanding immediate arrest of all culprits,
Prasad said immediate steps should be taken to shift the victim to
Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH). Announcing Rs 10,000 for her
from RJD fund, he charged the Nitish Kumar Government with patronising
feudal forces. According to reports, Nagina Devi, who hails from a
backward class family, was beaten up with hot iron rods allegedly by
an upper caste family at Pokharpur in Nalanda hospital a couple of
days ago. Police named six persons, but one person had so far been
arrested in connection with the incident.
