Censor Borad chief, CEO summoned over 'Aarakshan' contents

NEW DELHI: The National Commission for SCs on Monday issued summons to
the chairperson and the CEO of the Censor Board over its apprehensions
that upcoming movie Aarakshan may contain negative references to
dalits and the contentious issue of reservation.
P L Punia, the national panel chairman, issued the summons after the
censor board CEO failed to turn up at a scheduled hearing on Monday.
Punia had called them for discussions on the movie, and had even aired
the idea of viewing it once before release to assure himself of its
contents.
The commission has received petitions alleging that the movie has
anti-dalit references and is not very flattering to the issue of job
and education quotas which is an affirmative action policy to help the
underprivileged castes.
