Praja Front to contest elections too

October 4th, 2010
DC Correspondent

Hyderabad, Oct. 3: The new political formation called the Telangana
Praja Front, with Gaddar at its helm, will not only work for the
Telangana movement, but also contest elections. "Our prime slogan is a
Telangana Bill in Parliament. We will take the support of each and
every body in Telangana region and finally ensure formation of the
state," Gaddar said.

In an oblique reference to Mr Chandrasekhar Rao, Gaddar said that a
new state is not possible with "deadlines" and "fastings". He pointed
out that different people's organisations have been struggling
relentlessly to achieve Telangana but were not given due respect by
political parties. He requested students and people in Telangana not
to choose suicide as a way of achieving Telangana and said "mothers of
this region can't bear the pain any more".

The Congress MP, Mr G. Vivek, welcomed Gaddar's party and said he
would support whoever works for Telangana. The Madiga Reservation
Porata Samiti (MRPS) leader, Mr Manda Krishna Madiga offered
unconditional support to the new party.

Responding cautiously to the overwhelming support, Gaddar announced
that his new party would protect the interests of all three regions
and offered to tour Rayalaseema and Andhra regions to garner support
for his cause. He made it clear that his front would not wait for the
Srikrishna Committee Report because the secretary of the committee had
already announced that the committee would submit its report to the
Centre and that creating a separate state is not in its hands.

Mr Chandrasekhar Rao who spoke to mediapersons in the evening declined
to comment. But the Congress Working Committee member, Mr G.
Venkataswamy, welcomed it warmly. He told newspersons that Mr Rao has
used the Telangana issue for his selfish ends. "If anybody believes
that KCR will bring about a Telangana state, they are fools. He is
only interested in collecting money using Telangana," Mr Venkataswamy
alleged.
