Rahul's 'dalal' remark childish, irresponsible, anti-Dalit: BSP
Express news service Posted online: Fri Jul 08 2011, 01:15 hrs
Lucknow : Reacting to AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi's statement
in which he said that dalals (touts, middlemen) were running Uttar
Pradesh, the ruling BSP said remark was an insult to the people of the
state who have given a clear majority to the party to run the
government for five years.

The party has termed Rahul's statement as "irresponsible, childish and
anti-Dalit".

The party's spokesperson, in a press release, said such a statement
indicates the "political immaturity" of the Congress's "Yuvaraj". The
reality is that the Congress-headed UPA government has been proved
incapable of running the government and thus, Rahul Gandhi is looking
for issues in a state like UP in his effort to divert people's
attention from the Centre, the release said.

Criticising the Congress for "boasting against corruption", the BSP
reminded it about the Bofors scandal which had dislodged the Congress
from power. "The Congress has since failed to get a clear majority to
form its own government only because of the Bofors scam," the
statement said. It also referred to other corruption cases which have
taken place under the Congress from time to time.

The press release said it is part of the Congress culture to give
patronage to scamsters and corrupt persons. "On the contrary, the BSP
is the country's only party which has struggled against corruption
right from the day of its foundation,'' it added.

[ZESTCaste] Rahul Gandhi attacks Maywati, says state being run by dalals

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics/nation/rahul-gandhi-attacks-maywati-says-state-being-run-by-dalals/articleshow/9139229.cms

7 Jul, 2011, 07.48PM IST, Man Mohan Rai,ET Bureau
Rahul Gandhi attacks Maywati, says state being run by dalals

LUCKNOW: In one of his most stinging attacks on the Mayawati
government, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on the third day
of his foot march said that 'dalals' (touts) were running Uttar
Pradesh. Stepping up his attack on Mayawati whom he had avoided
commenting upon when he started his foot march on Tuesday, Rahul
Gandhi said that because people were not united Uttar Pradesh was
being ruled by dalals.

Addressing farmers at Kirpalpur village in Aligarh on Thursday Rahul
Gandhi said that farmers land was being taken forcibly and they were
given meager compensation. He told villagers that unless they united
things would not change for the better for them as the state
government was working not for their welfare but for the benefit of
builders.

The Congress MP started the third day of his padyatra from Sarole
village in Aligarh and met villagers along his route urging them to
attend the kisan mahapanchayat rally in Aligarh on July 9. He had
started the foot march on Tuesday from Bhatta Parsaul near Greater
Noida to Agra along the Yamuna Expressway highway.

He said that farmers were willing to give land for development but
wanted compensation at market rates. He said that in Haryana there was
no farmers unrest on land acquisition as the policy there provided
market rates for their land as well as jobs.

He told villagers that the central government would present a new Land
Acquisition Bill in the coming session of the parliament which would
be in the farmers interest.

He said that though Mayawati government announced a new compensation
policy in UP after farmers agitations it would not benefit most
farmers as it would apply with prospective effect.

Rahul Gandhi said that during his interaction with villagers many
expressed the need for development and also giving up their land for
acquisition but they did not want to surrender their land for the
builders to make money.

He urged farmers to gather for the Maha Panchayat Rally in Aligarh on
July 9, and show the state government their collective might and
opinion on the states land acquisition policy.

[ZESTCaste] Rahul's Comments Irresponsible, Anti-Dalit: BSP

http://news.outlookindia.com/item.aspx?727043

Rahul's Comments Irresponsible, Anti-Dalit: BSP
PTI | Lucknow | Jul 07, 2011

Describing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's statement that "dalals" were
running Uttar Pradesh as childish, irresponsible and anti-dalit,
ruling BSP today said that those running the central government are
mired in scams and have no right to level baseless allegations.

"Every child in the country is aware of the scams of the central
government and those running such a government have no right to raise
a finger at the UP government," a BSP release here said.

Terming Gandhi's statement as childish, irresponsible and anti-dalits,
the release said that it was also derogatory for the people of the
state who had given a clear majority to the BSP to run government for
a term of five years.

"Such a comment is indicative of political immaturity of the Congress
Yuvraj," it said adding that the reality is that the UPA government is
proving to be incapable of running the government.

"It is because of this fact that the Yuvraj is looking for issues in
UP to divert peoples attention," it said remembering the Bofors case,
which took place when Rajiv Gandhi was the prime minister.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today reportedly said in Kirpalpur
village of Aligarh that "dalals" were running Uttar Pradesh as people
of the state are "divided".

"You are not together. Uttar Pradesh is divided and that is why dalals
(touts) are running the state," Gandhi said, addressing people on the
third day of his padayatra to Aligarh.

[ZESTCaste] No change in condition of Dalits under Mayawati: Uma Bharti

No change in condition of Dalits under Mayawati: Uma Bharti

Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh), July 5: Accusing Uttar Pradesh Chief
Minister Mayawati of depriving Dalits and Other Backward Classes
(OBCs) of their rights, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti
said here Tuesday that their condition remained unchanged under her
rule.

"It is only for votes that the BSP approaches Dalits and OBCs. Once
their mission to acquire power is accomplished, the party tends to
forget those people who had voted it to power," Uma Bharti told
reporters in this Uttar Pradesh district.

"The Mayawati government merely projects itself as a custodian of
Dalits' rights. However, when it comes to raise the issues and
problems affecting them, the government adopts a casual approach and
fails to take concrete measures to serve them," she added.

Hitting out at Mayawati over "deteriorating law and order" in the
state, Uma Bharti said: "Be it the killing taking place inside a
police station or the murders of chief medical officers, it appears
lawlessness is all pervasive in the state. Even as the situation is
turning from bad to worse every passing day, the government claims
that everything is alright on the law and order front."

"People of Uttar Pradesh are now fed up of the Mayawati government and
would surely give it a strong message in the upcoming state assembly
elections," she added.

[ZESTCaste] From the margins, Dalits watch Rahul yatra

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/from-the-margins-dalits-watch-rahul-yatra/814540/

From the margins, Dalits watch Rahul yatra
Ashutosh Bhardwaj Posted online: Fri Jul 08 2011, 02:32 hrs

Aligarh : The Bahujan Samaj Party is seeking comfort in the fact that
Rahul Gandhi's walkabout doesn't touch many Dalit homes. In fact, all
along his Kisan Sangharsh Yatra focusing on farmland acquired by the
UP government along the Yamuna Expressway, you have to search hard to
find affected Dalit landowners.

Most of the landowning farmers who show up to support Rahul are Jats
and Brahmins and they slam Dalits and UP Chief Minister Mayawati in
openly casteist language. All in the presence of Rahul and his
entourage.

For example, during an early morning meeting at a temple in
Brahmin-dominated Sabota village in Gautam Budh Nagar yesterday, a
woman in purdah suddenly came forward and grabbed the mike. "Bolne ke
liye sabhi bade-budhon se kshama maangti hun. Jabse Mayawati aayi hai,
ch****** (a derogatory reference to Dalits) ko sinhasan par bitha diya
hai. (I seek forgiveness for speaking up... but ever since Mayawati
has taken charge, Dalits have been made to sit on the throne."

There were loud cheers as Rahul looked on before he asked her about
her land. Still in purdah, she unleashed a tirade against the rule of
Dalits saying it had hurt the interests of Brahmins. Another villager
said how Brahmins were not heard even in police stations.

If the first two days of his yatra were spent in Brahmin-dominated
villages, today he visited the Dalit-dominated village of Kripalpur in
Aligarh.

Addressing a meeting there, he said: "Land is being snatched of every
farmer, irrespective of caste — Jat, Dalits, OBCs. You farmers are not
united. Is pradesh ko dalal chala rahe hain." (This state is being run
by dalals)

Later, he spent nearly half an hour at Rambhool's, an SC family in
Kansera village, before taking a four-hour rest at Kalyan Singh's, a
Jat home. Kalyan Singh gave 12 bighas for Rs 4.36 lakh per bigha.

"First, four persons came and asked — Rahul Gandhi ayenge to unke liye
chaar cup chay bana dogi. Then he came with his team," said Anita,
daughter of Rambhool.

"Most land in the area is with Jats and Brahmins. Jatavs have mostly
land given on pattas. This is either too little, or falls on the other
side of the Expressway. Not many of SCs lost land for the Expressway,"
said Ajay Kumar, Rambhool's son.

The BSP said Rahul's campaign would not dent the party's Dalit base.
"In Bhatta Parsaul (from where he began his the padyatra), he only
visited Brahmin families. He makes only a token visit to Dalits,"
Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Surendra Nagar said.

"After the Tappal firing last year, he (Rahul) promised an amended law
for land acquisition. Where is that? Who is preventing the UPA
government to introduce new land acquisition law," said Nagar.

Yesterday, Gandhi's first halt was at Sabota at around 7.30 am after
he spent the night at Kalicharan Sharma's home in Rampur Bangar
village. He had an afternoon siesta at Ramveer Sharma's home in
Alavalpur village who said, "Devta ghar padhare." Later, Rahul visited
Panditon Ka Nagla.

Mundra, a Dalit woman, was among the crowd at a Rahul meeting, said
she did not get a chance to speak. "I tried to raise my voice but no
one gave me the mike," said Roomali, a Kumhar woman, who sold five
bighas to the government. Imarati, a Jatav, said: "Only powerful have
voices."

Rahul's refrain for all is: "Aapke sath anyaya hua hai, main aapko
insaaf dilvaoonga." (There has been injustice, I will ensure justice
for you).

Asked if he can influence the policy at the Centre, his aide
accompanying him said: "He is undertaking the yatra as he wanted to
understand the issue."

[ZESTCaste] Mala Yuva Sena asks Krishna Madiga to flee Telangana

http://www.hyderabadcircle.com/hyderabad-news/mala-yuva-sena-asks-krishna-madiga-to-flee-telangana-36566

Mala Yuva Sena asks Krishna Madiga to flee Telangana
Posted by HC-Team on July 8, 2011 View Comments

Hyderabad: The Telangana MalaYuva Seva on Friday warned the Madiga
Reservation Porata Samiti founder-president, Mr Manda Krishna Madiga,
that his anti-Telangana remarks would not be tolerated by the four
crore people of the region. It also asked him to flee the Telangana
region for speaking against the Dr B R Ambedkar's advocacy of smaller
States for uplift of the downtrodden sections.

Speaking to mediapersons, the Yuva Sena president, Mr B. Deepak Kumar,
said that it was shameful for Mr Manda Krishna Madiga demanding that
the Centre declare separate Telangana State only after effecting SC
categorization. Alleging that Mr Krishna Madiga was working against
the policies of Dr Ambdkar, he said that the MRPS leader has not only
insulted the Telangana population but also belittled the supreme
sacrifice of over 600 students for the cause of separate State.

Mr Deepak Kumar has alleged that Mr Krishna Madiga has been organizing
meetings in collusion with the Seemandhra leaders and blackmailing the
people in the name of SC categorization for his personal interests and
pecuniary gains. He also alleged that the MRPS leader was begging
money from political leaders at the time of every election and serving
them as a slave. Ridiculing Mr Krishna Madiga's remark that the
Madigas would once again become slaves of feudal landlords if separate
Telangana State was formed, he said that landlords would vanish if the
Madigas and Malas jointly fight for their rights after formation of
Telangana State.

The Mala Welfare Association president, Mr Battula Ramprasad said that
they could show their strength if the political leaders ignored the
Dalits after Telangana State was achieved. He charged Mr Krishna
Madiga with speaking about SC categorization issue as he could not
face the leaders in the region. He also warned that if Mr Krishna
Madiga failed to take part in separate Telangana agitation by giving
up SC categorization issue, they would not allow him to move in the
region.

The Mala Mahanadu Telangana districts in-charge, Mr Paladugu Anil
Kumar, the Mala Hakkula Parirakshana Samiti president, Mr Gaddam
Satyanarayana, the Telangana Mala Yuva Sena general secretary, Mr D.
Arjun and the Greater Hyderabad In-charge, Mr G. Prabhakar were also
present.

[ZESTCaste] Rahul a casteist, didn’t eat food offered by Dalits: BSP

Rahul a casteist, didn't eat food offered by Dalits: BSP
Ashish Tripathi, TNN | Jul 8, 2011, 04.17pm IST

The BSP claims that Rahul stayed at a house of a person belonging to
Scheduled Caste (SC) in Marodgarhi village, Aligarh, but did not eat
anything offered to him.
LUCKNOW: The BSP has accused Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi
of being a casteist. The party claimed that Rahul stayed at a house of
a person belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) in Marodgarhi village,
Aligarh, but did not eat anything offered to him.

The accusation has come on the fourth day of Rahul Gandhi's foot-march
in UP. He is expected to cover villages in Mathura and Agra affected
by land acquisition by the UP government for Yamuna Expressway and
associated projects. The march, which Congress has named as Kisan
Sandesh Yatra will culminate in a 'mahapanchayat' at Aligarh on
Saturday. The panchayat is expected to be attended by farmers from
across western UP.

Rahul plans to take suggestions from the farmers over land acquisition
and incorporate it in the land acquisition amendment bill which UPA
government has promised to pass in the monsoon session of Parliament.

On Friday, Rahul urged Aligarh and Mathura villagers not to accept a
single penny less than the market rate for their land acquired by the
state government. He told villagers that "people in the city get market
rate when they sell their land, whereas in villages land is being
forcibly acquired by the state government at throwaway prices and sell
10 times high rate to private companies who again sell it 5 to 10
times higher rate." He also added that farmers should unite themselves
and demand market price for their land from the state government.

At Devika village, he said that politicians should visit villages to
find out ground realities. "While sitting in Delhi and Lucknow, we are
unaware of the real problems and issues in the villages," he said. He
added that he learned a lot through direct interaction with the
villagers and though he had been a member of parliament for many
years, he wasn't aware of them before. He said that farmers also
wanted development and were not against land acquisition if given
adequate compensation and alternate source of livelihood. Rahul said
that besides farmers, land acquisition also affected landless
labourers and artisans in the village.

Earlier, the BSP had accused the centre of resorting to step-motherly
treatment towards UP by not releasing financial aid on time. In the
past four years, financial aid amounting to Rs 21,000 crore was never
given on time to the state for development works. The Centre, it
accused, "has also not accepted the demand for Rs 80,000 crore special
economic package for the development of east UP and Bundelkhand."

The BSP lament against the centre came as a counter attack to Rahul
Gandhi's remark on Thursday that UP was being run by touts.
